Who we are

RefNook is an independent service operated from India. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the brands listed on the site. For any privacy question, contact us at support@refnook.com.

Information we collect

We collect four kinds of information, and only what each feature needs:

• Account information. If you choose to sign in, we use Google Sign-In and receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never receive your Google password, and we do not access your contacts, files, or any other Google data. You only need an account to submit a code — not to browse, search, copy, or vote.
• Content you submit. When you submit a referral code or link, request a new brand, or provide a reward description, we store that content along with the account that submitted it.
• Vote signals. When you mark a code “Worked” or “Didn’t work”, we record the vote together with a random identifier stored in your browser and a hashed (irreversible) form of your IP address. We use these only to stop the same person voting on the same code repeatedly. We do not store your raw IP address alongside votes, and these identifiers are not linked to your identity.
• Usage analytics. We use PostHog to count how the site is used — pages viewed, codes copied, links opened, votes cast, searches that found nothing, and submissions started and finished. We record only that named list of actions: there is no session recording, no automatic capture of everything you click, and we never send the content of a code, your name or your email address. If you are signed in, these events are tagged with your account identifier so we can tell a returning contributor from a new one; signed out, they carry only a random identifier from your browser. We honour your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting, and if it is on we collect none of this.

Like most websites, our hosting provider also processes standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages and protect against abuse.

How we use information

• To operate the site — showing codes, running search, and letting you sign in.
• To publish and attribute the codes and brand requests you submit.
• To keep listings fresh and prevent spam, duplicate votes, and abuse.
• To communicate with you about a submission or a support request, if you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of storage items: a session cookie to keep you signed in, a randomly generated identifier in your browser’s local storage used only to rate-limit votes, and a first-party analytics cookie set by PostHog that recognises the same browser across visits so a returning reader is not counted twice. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

How we share information

We share information only in these limited cases:

• Service providers who run the site for us — our hosting platform, our database provider, Google (for sign-in) and PostHog (for the usage analytics described above) — who process data on our behalf.
• Public content. Codes and reward descriptions you submit are shown publicly on the site. Your email address and profile picture are never shown publicly.
• Legal reasons — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of RefNook and its users.

Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account exists, and submitted content for as long as it remains listed. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your account settings — this removes your account and the codes you have shared, and cannot be undone. You can also ask us to do it by emailing support@refnook.com.

Your rights

You can correct your display name and delete your account directly from your account settings. For anything else — access to, correction of, or deletion of other personal information — contact us at support@refnook.com from the email associated with your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law.

Children

RefNook is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.

International users

We operate primarily from and for India, and your information is processed on servers that may be located in other countries. By using RefNook you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in locations outside your own.

Links to other sites

Referral links take you to third-party brand websites and apps, which have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll make a more prominent notice on the site.
